Amazon Fire Stick update bringing new feature
The Amazon Fire Stick has proven a hugely successful device for the company that has now released a newer improved version, but a firmware update is bringing a welcome new feature to existing versions of the device as well as other Amazon Fire TV devices.
Amazon has now launched its new Fire Stick TV that has 8GB of storage that includes 1GB of memory for apps and games, and is now powered by a quad core processor with 802.11ac Wi-Fi for faster streaming.
It also comes with Alexa that is the company’s personal assistant allowing users to have voice control over their device, but so owners of older versions don’t feel left out the company is providing the Alexa feature via a firmware update.
Those that own the version of the Fire Stick without the voice remote needn’t worry though as the feature can still be used by downloading the Fire TV app to their Android or iOS smartphone from Google Play or the App Store.
Jorrit Van der Meulen, vice president of Amazon Devices International said, “Not only are we shipping a new Fire TV Stick – a faster and more powerful successor to our fastest-selling UK device ever – we’re also rolling Alexa out to every single Fire TV device in the UK”.
