Apple Pay UK launch nears

The days of people relying on cash to purchase items and services have long gone with many using debit cards for almost everything, but the rise in use of mobile devices in recent times has also seen contactless payment systems born. Now it seems that an Apple Pay UK launch date nears.

Tomorrow sees the annual Apple WWDC event kicking off at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, and while the focus will be on the next version of the company’s mobile operating system, iOS 9, there is also talk that a UK release date for Apple Pay will be announced.

Currently Apple Pay is only available in the US but an official UK release date is expected to be announced tomorrow, and there is a suggestion that the service will finally go live in August for UK users. Apple has been busy over the last few months talking to a number of establishments about the service.

Other new things expected to be revealed tomorrow besides iOS 9 is the company’s new music streaming service and the much rumored iPad Pro with a 12.9-inch display.
