Apple Pay UK release date revealed at WWDC 2015

Today Apple fans and developers have been keeping an eye out for all the news from the annual event where we used to see a new iPhone, but in the last few years we only hear about new software features in the pipeline. Now an Apple Pay UK release date has been revealed at WWDC 2015.

Yesterday we heard rumors that Apple Pay would arrive in the UK in August, but now the company has officially announced it will become available in July. The service is currently supported by the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus along with the Apple Watch.

It uses NFC technology along with the Touch ID fingerprint scanner to authenticate purchases, and according to Apple it will be supported by 8 of the most popular banks in the country. It was also revealed that Apple Pay will be supported by the likes of Boots, Costa, McDonalds, Subway, and Waitrose stores.

Users will also be to use Apple Pay on Transport for London services and will be available in 250,000 locations across the UK.
