BBM for Android release gets closer again with beta

2013 has been a troubled year for BlackBerry as its new smartphones and operating system have failed to capture the public’s imagination, and it has also had to deal with the drama and failure surrounding the release of its messaging service to rival platforms. The BBM app for Android release gets closer again with new beta testing getting underway.

It was almost two weeks ago now that the BBM app for Android and iOS was meant to be released, but a version of the Android app was leaked and the release was halted by the company due to trouble the app was causing to the company’s servers.

Now there is news that a new version of the app has been released to beta testers with reports that it has seen some changes over the previous version. The notification in the status bar can now be switched off by the user and the UI has a more polished feel to it.

While the app is now in beta testing it doesn’t mean a release is coming anytime soon as the company will not want a repeat of the problems last time around. Once it has been released to Google Play the app will be by BlackBerry Limited, as there could be a number of fakes available.
