Changing stock Galaxy S5, S6 messaging app

One of the much loved features of the Android platform has long been the ability for users to change the stock applications being used on their devices, and today we are looking at changing the stock Galaxy S5, S6 messaging application.

When Google originally gave us Android 4.4Kitkat it made doing such a procedure even easier, and just like keyboards there are a number of messaging apps available on Google Play. One of the most popular apps available to users is Textra, which is available as a free download.

Once you have downloaded the app to your handset if it doesn’t do everything automatically for you the settings icon will need to be selected. Once applications are selected you can then choose Default applications and then select the Messaging app from there.

Many of the third party applications that are available offer a number of different customization options to the user such as themes, font size, and colors. Everyone will have their favorite messaging application but with many of them being available free if you don’t like one it can easily be changed for something else.

Do you use a third party messaging app on your handset?
