Galaxy S4 release nears as invites & specs appear
Two weeks today the world will be treated to the next instalment in the award winning Samsung Galaxy S range of smartphones, and as the Galaxy S4 release gets closer the company has been sending out more invites as new rumoured specs appear.
Samsung is really taking aim at fierce rival Apple after announcing recently that they will be launching the Galaxy S4 at an event in New York on March 14th, but now the company has gone even further by inviting us all to Times Square in New York to watch the unveiling of the smartphone.
The Samsung Unpacked event will be streamed live around the world but if you happen to be around Times Square at 7PM on the day of the event you will also be able to view the new handset being debuted.
Meanwhile some new rumours surrounding the handsets specifications have come to light that include a 4.99-inch Full HD display, but instead of being an AMOLED screen Samsung are rumoured to be using a SoLuX Display. The handsets processor is also under some discussion with suggestions that the company could use its eight core Exynos 5 Octa chip in Europe, while in the US the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 that is found inside the HTC One will be used.
The company has done something similar with the Galaxy S3 so this idea does make sense, and now a tipster has suggested the dimensions of the handset that come in at 140.1mm x 71.8mm x 7.7mm and weighing 138grams, which compares to the Galaxy S3 which is 136.6mm x 70.6mm x 8.6mm and weighing 133grams.
If accurate this will mean the Galaxy S4 is returning to the squarer design of the Galaxy S2, and the same source is claiming that the device will have aluminium sides while keeping the plastic rear cover with a removable battery.
