iPhone 8 specs may include new build

Apple has seen a downturn in its iPhone sales recently along with a drop in the company’s share price, and while we have heard rumours of new features for this year’s new handset there is now claims surrounding the iPhone 8 for 2017 with the specs possibly featuring a new build.

It is being claimed that Apple will showcase a totally redesigned iPhone for 2017 that will use a glass form factor instead of a metal construction. This claim is being made by Catcher Technology CEO, Allen Horng.

Catcher Technology currently supplies Apple with its metal chassis for current iPhone models and Horng stated that “As far as I know, only one [iPhone] model will adopt glass casing next year. I don’t think this move will have an impact on Catcher’s revenue as glass casing still needs a durable metal frame which requires advanced processing technology and would not be cheaper than the current model.”

These claims will not go down to well with Apple though as the company has always tried to keep its plans secret even though many companies in the supply chain can leak clues of upcoming handsets, or even leave working models in bars for someone to find and reveal to the World Wide Web.

Other rumours for 2017 include an improved camera and a possible curved OLED display, while for this year some believe we won’t see many changes over last year’s offerings.
