The Android smartphone market is leaving the Apple iPhone in its wake in terms of new specifications and features, and the LG G3 release looks set to bring a major new flagship to the Android platform.

On the 27th of May in London LG will be holding a press event to showcase the LG G3 and before then the full specifications of the handset have been leaked via some advertising material. The upcoming smartphone will come sporting a 5.5-inch Quad HD IPS touchscreen display which works out at a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and 538ppi pixel density.

This compares to the Galaxy S5 that has a 5.1-inch display at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and 432ppi, while the LG G3 will have the quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM under the hood. The handset will measure 146.3mm x 74.6mm x 8.9mm and be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery.

Camera wise we have a 13-megapixel shooter on the back paired up with a 2.1-megapixel front facer, but the rear camera will make use of new laser technology to enhance low light image taking.
