Samsung folding screen phone production rumours persist

Long before Samsung brought us the curved displays on the likes of the Galaxy S6 Edge the company were rumoured to be working on more complex screens, and now talk of folding screen phone production persist.

This year according to rumours consumers will only be able to purchase the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 with a curved display, but an article is now claiming the company is about to start production on a foldable smartphone project.

Sources are claiming the company is aiming to have a prototype during the third quarter of this year in order “to verify quality of foldable smartphone by producing thousands of prototypes”. The company is supposed to be testing quality and performance of these prototypes internally, and at the same time checking on feedback from certain markets.

This will be before supplying the units to major customers such as “mobile network providers”, and Q3 coincides with the IFA 2017 event in Berlin which the company normally dedicates to the latest Note handset.

So we could see Samsung launch the Galaxy Note 8 while teasing us for what it may have in store for the industry in 2018.
