Samsung Galaxy Note 3 may release with 5.9″ display

A week tomorrow the world will see the Samsung Galaxy S4 officially for the first time, but already some rumours are emerging about the Galaxy Note 3 that is due for release later this year that may come with a 5.9-inch display.

Samsung were responsible for the birth of the phablet device with the release of the original Note back in 2011, and last year increased the screen size up to 5.5-inches with the Note 2 but made the handset easier to hold by reducing the bezel surrounding the screen.

Now sources are claiming that this year’s model will get even larger at 5.9-inches and be powered by the eight core Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor, which is also thought to be coming in the Galaxy S4. Samsung has been developing bendy touchscreen display’s but the same sources are claiming these won’t be appearing on the Note 3 as the company is having production issues and won’t be able to meet demand for the time being.

The information has originated from a Samsung executive, who was talking anonymously to The Korea Times, but the device is expected to be released around the autumn and hopefully Samsung will find a way of making the device easier to hold despite the increase in screen size.

We are beginning to see a number of smartphones with displays of 5-inches or more, and the Huawei Ascend mate features a 6.1-inch display. Samsung has been slowly increasing the size of the display Galaxy S handset, with the S2 coming in at 4.3-inches increasing to 4.8-inches with the S3, and the next model is thought to come in at 4.99-inches.

Would a 5.9-inch Galaxy Note 3 be too large a size for you?
