Samsung Galaxy S6 Android 5.1.1 update spreading

Smartphone manufacturer Samsung hasn’t always had the best reputation in terms of pushing out quick updates to the Android operating system, which is one thing Galaxy S3 owners can vouch for. Today we have news that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Android 5.1.1 update is spreading.

The update has already been seen in the US and now it has started to arrive for International versions of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge with users in France reporting of the firmware update. The new version of the OS brings with it the option for users to manually alter the exposure on the camera, and focus on a subject when taking a shot.

Another new feature is a parallax wallpaper effect that sees the homescreen background move as the handset is tilted. There also the option to now do away with the S Finder and Quick Connect buttons from the notifications panel, and of course there will be the usual performance improvements.

Normally it will be unlocked versions of the handset receiving the update first as the various carriers will need to carry out their own checks and additions, but at the time of writing our unlocked version of the Galaxy S6 hasn’t received Android 5.1.1.

Have you received the new firmware yet?
