Samsung Galaxy S6 & S6 edge launched
It has been a busy day in the smartphone world and following the event that saw the HTC One M9 revealed Samsung has taken the wraps off the Galaxy 6 and Galaxy 6 edge.
As you can see from the images the two handsets have been designed from the ground up featuring some new build features and technology. The specs of the two handsets include a world first with regards to the processor that comes in the form of a 14nm 64-bit Exynos Octa core chipset.
This is paired with 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM with internal storage coming in at 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB, and as we exclusively reported before no option of expanding this. We have a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display at 5.1-inches with a resolution of 2560×1440 providing 577ppi.
The handsets are manufactured from aluminium that is promised to be 50% stronger and Samsung stressed it won’t bend. Camera wise we have a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS and an f1.9 lense to allow more light in, and the company made a big thing comparing the main camera to the iPhone 6 Plus.
The front camera also has the same lens with a 5-megapixel sensor while the main camera is always on standby and can be launched in less than a second. For the first time on a Galaxy flagship smartphone we have a built in battery that can be charged wirelessly straight from the box, and can also provide up to 4 hours of normal use from only 10 minutes of charging.
Samsung has promised to release the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge in 20 countries on April 10th along with a number of official accessories.
