Sony Xperia S Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 rollout begins
The Android platform will often come under fire for its fragmentation that sees numerous devices running on different versions of the operating system, but today we have some good news for owners of the Sony Xperia S as the Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 rollout finally begins.
Sony had previously promised that the handset would see the update before the end of May, and now just shy of that date some users are reporting that their version of the handset is getting treated to a taste of Jelly Bean.
This news comes after there was a false start for the new firmware update, but now French owners of the Sony Xperia S have reported to the Xperia Blog that the new software has been released. Like any Android update though it can take a number of weeks to reach all users so don’t be too alarmed if you haven’t received it yet.
The new software has a build number of 6.2.B.0.200 and comes with the 3.4 kernel, and will bring a number of new features to the popular smartphone. These include the likes of the Google Now search feature, Project Butter and much more.
Let us know if you have downloaded this new firmware yet on your Sony Xperia S.
