Sony Xperia Z to release shortly ahead of schedule
Sony is setting its sights on the Android platform this year and plans to make a much bigger impact than previously, and the company has some great looking hardware in the pipeline. This is set to get underway with the Sony Xperia Z that looks to be released in a few days time ahead of schedule.
The Sony Xperia Z has already gone up for pre-order via carriers such as Three, but at the time no specific release date was given for the handset. It was expected to arrive on the 28th of February but the Sony Mobile Facebook page in Germany has the handset down for a release in its Berlin store next Thursday, February 21st.
There is no information given about any availability in other regions on this date, but normally smartphones that are launched in the European region will cover a number of countries at the same time.
To recap the handset comes packing a Full HD 5-inch display powered by a quad-core Qualcomm processor running at 1.5GHz along with 2GB of RAM. There is a 13-megapixel rear facing camera capable of 1080p video capture, while on the front is a 2.2-meagpixel shooter, and the handset is also dust and waterproof.
The smartphone will come running the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system but Sony has already promised to update this to 4.2 Jelly Bean shortly after the handset is released. Hopefully we will soon have news of the handsets availability in other areas, so you could be just a few days away from getting your hands on the Sony Xperia Z.
Will you be picking up the Xperia Z?
