Vodafone UK launches new affordable smartphones
The Android platform has a huge variety of devices covering many price brackets with some more affordable options available to consumers. Vodafone UK has now launched the Smart Prime 7 and Smart First 7 for 2016.
Vodafone has been offering its customers cheaper own branded alternatives on the Android platform for the last few years, and last year we reviewed the Smart First 6 which was found to be a good solid performer given the low asking price.
Today we have news of two new handsets in the form of the Vodafone Smart Prime 7 and the Smart First 7. The Prime 7 is available for only £79 on Pay as you go and comes packing a 5-inch HD display offering a resolution of 720 x 1280 with a 294ppi.
This is powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and running the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. On board storage comes in at 8GB but this can be expanded by up to 128GB via microSD card.
Camera wise we have an 8-megapixel unit on the back while around the front is a 5-megapixel shooter for all those selfies. Powering the handset is a 2540 mAh battery pack housed in a body measuring 144mm x 72.1mm x 7.99mm weighing 128g.
The cheaper handset is the Vodafone Smart First 7 that is only £25, and for your money you get a device running Android 5.1 Lollipop straight out of the box. The display is smaller at 3.5-inch powered by a quad core 1.3GHz chipset with 512MB of RAM.
There is no secondary camera and on the rear is a 2-megapixel unit while there is a 14,000 mAh battery housed in a form factor measuring 114.4mm x 62.8mm x12mm at 110g. These two new smartphones will be covered by the carriers 30 Day Network Guarantee we reported previously.
